The Tagalog word for 'dolphin' or 'porpoise' is lumba-lumba. It is Malay in origin. Even the Indonesians and Malaysians use the word.
A more obscure Tagalog word is lampasot but very few recognize its meaning.
The dolphin is not a fish, but an aquatic mammal. Porpoises are small cetaceans that are related to whales and dolphins.
